- New and Gently Used Children’s Clothing – Children entering state care often come into a foster home with few or no belongings. By providing immediate access to clothing, Restoration Rome eases the transition for children and caregivers. Upon entry, children are given an opportunity to choose an outfit, restoring some bit of control to their lives. Once placed in a home, caregivers are able to “shop” with the children in their care for the additional clothing items they require. Families in need of emergency assistance are also provided access through school counselor or Family Resource Center referrals.
- Diapers and New Underwear and Socks – These necessities are always a priority for infants and children entering state care. Provision of diapers and wipes can make all the difference in a caregiver’s ability to accept placement of an infant. The Fig Leaf Friends Program of the Rome/Floyd Commission on Youth is a primary provider for these Hope Chest items.
- The Toy Chest – Brighter Birthdays partners with Restoration Rome to maintain a supply of gently used toys that foster, adoptive, and kinship caregivers can access when they lack the appropriate toys for a child entering their care. In addition, The Toy Chest is a resource of new items that ensure that every child has a birthday or Christmas gift from their caregiver or CASA.
