YMCA After School Program
The Y provides children in grades 1-6 with a project-based after school program. Social-emotional learning and self-regulation skills are instructional priorities informed by Trust-Based Relational Intervention or TBRI.
Summer Food and Fun
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that low-income children continue to get nutritious meals when school is not in session. The YMCA of Rome & Floyd County is an SFSP participant and, in partnership with Floyd County School Nutrition, serves meals at summer day camp and several open distribution sites within the community, including Restoration Rome. In addition to serving meals, the YMCA’s Stay and Play program provides an hour or two of fun activities during lunchtime. Any child or teen 18 years of age or younger can receive a free lunch at an open site Monday-Friday during the summer. In addition to the Restoration Rome site, the YMCA provides meals at:
- Alto Park Elementary
- Dutch Gardens Mobile Home Park
- The YMCA
Weekend and School Holiday Programs
The Rome Y, in partnership with Rome Action Ministries, provides Backpack Buddies to children in the After School Program each Friday. The Y also provides Saturday Grab and Go lunches at 12:30pm year round at Restoration Rome to any youth 18 years of age or younger. During extended holidays, Holiday Camps provide several hours of connection and fun for children.
